Intellectual Property News Sources

François Briatte
Last update: June 2010 (work in progress)

The following sources include news reports on the economics, law, politics and technology of unauthorised file-sharing and digital copyright infringement, with a focus on France (see my papers). All sources were visited during 2006–2010; links to online articles are provided on a provisional basis, with no guarantee that they might still work. All sources have been archived for future reference and are available upon request, along with additional documents from lawmaking institutions, bloggers and activists.

For ad hoc narratives of the French legislative processes related to digital copyright enforcement, please refer to the Wikipedia entries for the DADVSI (French, English) and HADOPI (French, English) bills.

Credits for national news reporting go to Marc Rees (PC INpact) and Guillaume Champeau (Numerama, formerly Ratiatium) for specialised websites, and to journalists such as Astrid Girardeau at Écrans (Libération) and in other national news outlets. International coverage was provided by Eric Bangeman (from the Law & Disorder blog at Ars Technica), by The Register, and by TorrentFreak. Some coverage also appeared in business newspapers, such as the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.
